EnglishMedicover, a leading provider of private medical services in Romania, last month took over a medical clinic in Brasov, thus expanding coverage to the central part of Romania, after having acquired earlier another clinic in Sibiu.
The Swedish-based company used to prefer green-field investments, but the ongoing economic crisis has prompted changes in the expansion strategy. Medicover has therefore taken over Prosana, a Brasov-based clinic specialized in occupational health, which will now complement its portfolio with the Medicover services.
Medicover is also planning to start building a hospital of 100 beds for an estimated 12 million EUR investment. Construction works on the future hospital, located in Bucharest, will most likely start next Spring, as soon as the construction permit is available.
