EnglishCan Serv are negotiating the sale of their nine supermarkets in Romania, including nine in Bucharest, with several prospective bidders. One of them is Mega Image, a division of the Belgian-based Delhaize, sources told NewsIn. Can Serv has four supermarkets in Bucharest, two in Pitesti and one in Ploiesti, Craiova and Galati. The overall sales surface is 12,500 square meters. Can Serv was established in 1993 and, besides the retail business, has various milling, baking and real estate operations.
In turn, Delhaize recently announced the acquisition of La Fourmi, a chain of 14 supermarkets located in Bucharest, for 18.6 million EUR. Established in 1995, Mega Image is one of the largest supermarket chains in Romania (23 units). Mega Image is part of Delhaize Group, which operates over 2,500 supermarkets in seven countries on three continents. Last year"s revenue was 19 billion EUR.
