Versiunea în limba română

The Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences (FJSC) of the University of Bucharest is expanding its educational offer starting with the 2026-2027 academic year, by launching two postgraduate programs dedicated to institutional communication and sports communication management. According to a press release from the institution, the new courses aim to meet the growing demand for specialists in press relations, public communication and the sports industry.

Program dedicated to institutional communication and press relations

The first of the programs, Institutional Communication and Press Relations, is aimed at professionals from public institutions and strategic organizations who perform spokesperson duties or manage the public image and media relations. According to the FJSC, the need for such a program is also supported by the provisions of Law no. 544/2001 on free access to information of public interest, which obliges public authorities and institutions to designate a spokesperson. There are over 13,000 public institutions in Romania, which generates a constant need for specialized communication personnel. Among the disciplines included in the program are Spokesperson in Public Institutions, Communication under Pressure - Crises, Controversies and Manipulation, Press Relations and Media Appearance Management, Public Speaking, as well as courses dedicated to storytelling in the digital environment and the use of artificial intelligence in institutional communication. "Institutional communication no longer means just press releases and official statements. Media pressure is constant, crises spread within minutes on social media, and the public expects transparency and quick responses. Through this course, we train professionals who can face these challenges with confidence,” said Loredana Dogaru, the program coordinator.

Course dedicated to communication and management in sports

The second program, Leadership and communication strategies in sports organizations, aims to train specialists in organizational communication and sports management, in a context in which sports are gaining increasing economic, social and media importance, and organizations in the field are facing a shortage of professionals. The program is structured in three modules - Management, strategy and finance in sports, Communication, journalism and sports media and Legislation, performance and inclusion - and includes an internship in sports organizations. Students will study subjects such as Sports marketing and brand identity, Sports commentary in audiovisual, Online sports journalism, Sports law and specific legislation and Paralympic sport. According to the program coordinator, Florian Petrică, the objective is to train professionals capable of holding leadership and communication positions in clubs, federations and other sports organizations. "The curriculum is designed to develop a complex set of skills, allowing graduates to manage diverse roles, from the administrative activity of a club and sports commentary to the coordination of communication in crisis situations,” he explained.

The faculty's educational offer expands

According to the FJSC, the two programs complete the faculty's portfolio of postgraduate courses, along with Communication and Interpretation in Romanian Sign Language and Communication and Digital Strategy. Both programs will bring together journalists, public relations specialists, academics and communication practitioners at the department, aiming to develop skills adapted to the current requirements of public institutions and the private environment.
