The international 3D video mapping competition "iMapp Bucharest - Winners League" will take place on September 23rd in Constitution Square, with the theme of the eighth edition being "Contrasts," creatively explored by the five international artistic teams that won at partner festivals in France, Germany, Greece, Japan, and Hungary. According to the Bucharest City Hall, the following teams will participate in the competition: PostSignal - Jeremy Oury and Dorian Rigal (winners of the audience award at the video mapping festival contest in Lille, France), John Tettenborn and Kourtney Lara Ross (winners of the Genius Loci Weimar Festival in Germany), Panagiotis Tomaras (winner of last year's CosmoLights Projection Mapping in Greece), MultiScalar, created and led by Reinaldo Verde (winner of the grand prize at the 2023 Zsolnay Light Festival in Hungary), and Julia Shamsheieva (winner of the grand prize at the 1-minute projection mapping competition in Japan). They will present their works on the facade of the Palace of Parliament, which covers an area of 23,000 square meters, and the jury, consisting of important international experts in audiovisual arts, will decide the grand winner of this year's edition.
For the first time at "iMapp Bucharest," the audience will meet Pixel, generated by artificial intelligence using cutting-edge technology that employs advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques to analyze speech patterns, facial movements, and human gestures, subsequently rendering them in a fictional environment. Pixel will interact with the spectators on the projection surface, providing an interactive experience.
According to the organizers, starting at 11:00, the whole family can enjoy the event's activities, including street food, relaxation areas, DJ sets, and street artists. The evening will culminate with the visual arts and 3D technology spectacle. From the program's opening, the stage will pulsate with electronic rhythms alongside DJ CS84, and from 5:00 PM, KOV's playlist will captivate the audience. International artist DJ Ravin, one of the most well-known creators of the Buddha Bar compilation series, will provide the opening musical performance for the international competition. The atmosphere will also be animated by street artists, living statues, and LED robots. Admission to the event is free.
