AnimaWings and Visit Cyprus bring the island of Aphrodite closer to Romanians

Versiunea în limba română

In recent years, Cyprus has become a tourist destination where more and more Romanians choose to spend their holidays, and proof of this is the fact that last year the island of Aphrodite was visited by over 85,000 tourists from our country. In order to meet the wishes of Romanian tourists, the company AnimaWings together with Visit Cyprus organized an event at the end of last week in which it presented to travel agents and media representatives the main attractions in Cyprus, as well as the flight schedule to that country.

We note that AnimaWings recently launched flights on the Bucharest-Larnaca route, three times a week - Monday, Wednesday and Friday -, Cyprus being not only a tourist destination, but also a business one, according to the airline representatives.

Diana Dima, the commercial director of AnimaWings, stated: "We are a smart-cost company, an airline with a Romanian soul that wants to offer flights to all corners of the world. In the last five years we have entered a new stage of development, we have recently brought four new aircraft - two Airbus 220 and two Airbus 320 - which will complete the current fleet (ed. - consisting of four other Airbus aircraft). We aim to have 12 Airbus 220 aircraft and 2 Airbus 320 aircraft by the end of 2026. I mention that the Airbus 220 aircraft have a dedicated business-class cabin. We are not talking about that European business-class with a seat stuck in the middle, but we are talking about comfortable armchairs that can be reclined and the bottom part is raised to comfortably rest your feet. We have a very good on-board catering service, with products that reveal the specifics of Romanian gastronomy to tourists. We fly to Larnaca three times a week, all year round, and the flights from The summer season is almost full. So people who want to go to Cyprus this summer should book their flight with our company as soon as possible.

Present at the event held in Bucharest, Kostas Koumis, the Minister of Tourism of Cyprus, stated: "We have a very good collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism of Cyprus and the company AnimaWings, which has introduced flights to Larnaca and we hope that their number will increase, perhaps starting from this autumn. We are delighted with the relations between Romania and Cyprus, which are developing from one year to the next and we are satisfied with the increase in the number of tourists. For example, last year, there were 85,000 Romanian tourists in Cyprus and I am sure they were delighted with what they found in our country since this year estimates show that we will exceed the number in 2024. We want to offer as many opportunities as possible to Romanian tourists to discover the culture and traditions of Cyprus, the attractions of our country, the tourist resorts that offer comfortable accommodation, the new tourist resorts built in Ayia Napa, Protaras, Pafos, Larnaca, etc., as well as the professionalism of everyone working in the hospitality industry. All of this constitutes the basis of a pleasant experience, from all points of view, for tourists who choose to spend their vacation/holiday in Cyprus. Especially since Cyprus is a tourist destination that is permanently open, for 12 months a year. And there is something else: Cyprus has also started to become a sports destination, if we take into account the three marathon competitions that take place annually in our country; these are the marathons organized in Larnaca, Pafos and Nicosia. In addition to these sports competitions, Cyprus also offers destinations where sports clubs from Romania can train, destinations equipped with everything necessary, from training grounds to gyms and recovery centers. I would also mention that we also have tourism for commercial purposes, religious tourism and we have also invested a lot in gastronomic tourism, which also includes visiting the most important wine production areas in Cyprus, wine that we consider to be the best in the world".

Marios Kountourides, the ambassador of Cyprus to Romania, added: "When we talk about the Cyprus tourism product, we are not talking about a single product, but about a multiple variety of tastes, places, traditions, and I would like to thank the AnimaWings company for the opportunity offered to Romanian tourists to discover us, but also to Cypriot tourists to visit Romania. I am sure that we will have a good tourist year, based also on our collaboration with this airline and the travel agencies it serves".

Ivan Gorobets, Deputy Minister of Tourism in Cyprus, presented several destinations in the country, including the tourist resorts of Ayia Napa, Protaras and Paphos, as well as the cities of Limassol and Larnaca. According to the Cypriot official, the 10 key points to visit Cyprus are: the cleanest beaches and bathing waters in the Mediterranean; short flight times between the cities of Romania and those of the island of Aphrodite; Cyprus is a country that you can travel on the highway in just a few hours; each region of Cyprus has a unique flavor, has something special to offer those who come to visit it, to discover it; the support received from the locals to easily find the most important tourist attractions; Cyprus is a friendly place for family tourism and not only; the tourist options are adequate depending on the budget allocated by tourists for spending their vacation; the tourist routes are well-defined in any region of the country; agro-tourism is a well-defined sector in tourism in Cyprus and which leaves its personal mark on the experience offered to each tourist; Cyprus is a binder of all forms of tourism practice and offers fun for everyone, including high-performance athletes and not only.
