Admission to the University of Bucharest attracts a record number of candidates in the July session

The University of Bucharest (UB) registered a record number of applications in the July 2026 admission session, both for bachelor's and master's programs. According to the institution, competition for budget-funded places reached 6.1 candidates per bachelor's place and 3 candidates per master's place. The university put up for competition 4,868 budgeted places for bachelor's studies and 3,252 budgeted places for master's programs.

• Psychology and business administration, among the most sought-after programs

At the undergraduate level, the highest competition was registered for the Psychology - Cognitive Sciences program within the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, with 22.4 candidates per budgeted place. This is followed by the Pharmaceutical Chemistry program, within the Faculty of Chemistry, with 16.9 candidates per place, and Business Administration, organized by the Faculty of Administration and Business, with 16.4 candidates per place. Regarding master's programs, the highest competitions were registered in Clinical Psychology - Therapeutic Assessment and Intervention (16.9 candidates per place), Organizational Psychology and Human Resources Management (13.1 candidates per place) and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (12.7 candidates per place), all within the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences.

• Spectacular Increases in Geology and Geophysics

Compared to the July 2025 admission session, the highest increases in the number of candidates were registered in the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics. The Geophysics program increased from 15 to 110 candidates, which represents an advance of 630%, and the Geology program reached from 39 to 133 candidates, registering an increase of approximately 240%.

• UB Rector: Interest reflects the needs of the labor market

The Rector of the University of Bucharest, Marian Preda, states that the results of the current admission session confirm that the institution is increasingly attractive to candidates from all over the country. According to him, the increase in interest in fields such as natural sciences, health, law, psychology, social sciences and communication sciences reflects both the society's need for well-trained specialists, and the adaptation of the educational offer to the demands of the labor market, by updating study programs and strengthening partnerships with employers.
