English Section / 30 septembrie 2008

Romania"s energy regulator ANRE has decided that the price of natural gas for the captive consumers, including individuals, will remain unchanged in the fourth quarter. The decision is intended to keep prices reasonable in the near future without affecting supply security and continuity and considering that import prices are expected to become more favorable.. In September 2008, ANRE was requested by Distrigaz Sud and EON GAZ Romania to adjust the finally settled price as of 1 October. the 1st of October. The requests are justified by the increase in import prices and the distributors" own evaluations, which indicate a slight price increase in Q4 The import prices paid by the natural gas suppliers are adjusted quarterly, according to a formula which includes the medium quotations for fuel oil and diesel oil from the last nine months prior to the delivery quarter, quotations that have recoreded a continuous increase in in January- July 2008. However, the recent evolutions of the oil and tanker products quotations indicate a downward trend which, if it can be maintained, will be in lower prices for imported gas in H2, 2009. Taking into consideration these evaluations, ANRE decided to postpone the implementation of the additional costs into the retail price, and to continue to find practical solutions to cover these discrepancies in the next period, so to maintain stable prices for consumers, supply security and the financial stability of the gas market.
