English"Dafora" Mediaş, a drilling and construction company, has ended the first quarter with a profit of 6.27 million lei, up over 40 times compared to last year"s result, of just 178,000 lei. The company"s turnover dropped 3%, from 38.7 million lei to 37.46 million lei. Its revenues dropped 16.2%, from 57.28 million lei to 48 million lei, whereas expenses contracted 27.3%, from 57.1 million lei to 41.5 million lei. It is worth mentioning that in the first quarter, the company had an average profit of 9,800 lei per employee.
The company is controlled by businessman Gheorghe Călburean, who holds 48.58% of the shares. The company expects an annual profit of 12.3 million lei, in 2010, around ten times bigger than the one recorded last year, and plans to invest 28.4 million lei in 2010.
