EnglishRanbaxy has made important progress in turning Terapia Ranbaxy into a strategic regional center for its European operations by obtaining an EU manufacturing and import license indicating that the leading generic drug producer in Romania complies with EU norms and standards.
The license is of major importance for the company"s ongoing alignment to EU standards as well as with the parent company"s systems. "It is the first and foremost important step in the process of turning our factory in Cluj into a powerful platform for our EU expansion," the company said in a press release.
In June 2006, Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. announced the acquisition by Ranbaxy Netherlands BV of 96.7% in the Romanian generic drug producer Terapia SA. Terapia Ranbaxy then became the leading generic drug producer in the country.
