ASE climbs to the top of the world's universities in the field of Economics

The Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies (ASE) consolidates its position in the international academic elite, occupying 1st place in Romania and the 201-300 range worldwide in the field of Economics in the 2025 edition of ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. The result marks an improvement over last year, when the institution was in the 301-400 range, reflecting, according to the educational institution, the increased visibility and impact of economic research conducted at ASE. ShanghaiRanking, one of the most influential global university rankings, annually evaluates over 2,000 universities from about 100 countries. The methodology is based on objective indicators, such as the quality and volume of scientific publications, academic impact measured by citations, international collaborations and researcher performance. "ASE's performance confirms its role as a reference institution in economic research in Romania and a competitive actor on the international academic scene," the institution's press release states. The global ranking in the top 300 places ASE in a select category of universities with significant academic impact and validates the economic research development strategy implemented by the institution. The 2025 ranking strengthens ASE's image and contributes to increasing the visibility of the Romanian academic environment in key areas such as economics and social sciences. By advancing research and expanding international collaborations, ASE strengthens its status as a competitive institution in a global university landscape marked by exigencies and competition.
