Babeş-Bolyai University - five distinctions of excellence at the Global Student Satisfaction Awards 2025 - 20.10.2025

The Babeş-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca (UBB) has obtained five Badges of Excellence at the prestigious Global Student Satisfaction Awards (GSSA) - a competition in which over 1,200 higher education institutions participated. The Global Student Satisfaction Awards reward universities based on direct evaluations by students from around the world. According to the organizers, the event - organized by the Studyportals platform, in partnership with the British Council IELTS and Uni-Life - analyzed over 100,000 reviews from students from more than 1,200 universities worldwide. To receive a Badge of Excellence, a university must achieve a minimum score of 4.0 out of 5.0 in one of the seven award categories, which include: overall student satisfaction, academic quality, support for international students, campus diversity, career opportunities, administrative services and social life. "This distinction is an important recognition of the continuous efforts made by the entire UBB academic community to provide students with a high-quality educational experience. Even if more difficult situations arise, our attempt to do everything as best as possible for students is constant. Students are our most important partners, an integral part of the academic community,” said prof. univ. dr. Adrian Petruşel, UBB rector, quoted in the press release.

• Awards contribute to increasing the university's international visibility

According to the organizers, Studyportals manages a network of educational platforms accessed annually by over 50 million users, and the awarded institutions benefit from increased visibility among young people who choose universities for international studies. Thus, the Badges of Excellence obtained by UBB will be displayed on the university's official page within the Studyportals platform, contributing to strengthening its reputation as an elite academic center in Central and Eastern Europe. "Babeş-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca is constantly among the best performing universities in Romania in international rankings, being recognized for the diversity of study programs, advanced research infrastructure and multicultural character, with programs in Romanian, Hungarian, German and English. In recent years, UBB has ranked in the top 5% of universities in the world in global rankings such as QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education (THE) or Shanghai Ranking (ARWU). The Global Student Satisfaction Awards is an annual international program organized by Studyportals, in collaboration with the British Council IELTS and Uni-Life, which aims to promote transparency and quality in university education.
