EnglishSome 2,700 employees of the Galati-based Damen Shipyard each received a taxable 300 RON profit share at the end of last year, according to NewsIn. The remaining 300 employees did not receive anything as they had been hired in 2006 and were no eligible to profit share. According to union leader Gheorghe Valentin, the taxable 300 RON means some 180 RON net. "It"s not much, but we"re happy that the profit share exists and we hope to get it in 2007, too" he said. Rough estimates indicate that Damen Shipyard - Galati, part of Damen Shipyards NV, concluded last year with some 5 million EUR in profit. The cargo ship builder was privatized to the Dutch company in 1999.
