EnglishEscar Prod SCA, in, plans to invest 1.2 million EUR in a snail meat processing plant located in Teliu, Brasov county. The plant is scheduled to open in July and will be unique in Central and Eastern Europe. The building will occupy a surface area of 1.700 square meters and will employ over 100 people. In the vecinity of the processing plant, there is a snail farm that stretches over 1 hectar.
The plant will process approximately 5.000 tons of snails per year. and the products will be exported to countries like Belgium, France or Italy, where snail meat is considered a delicacy. The investment will be amortized in five years, according to company officials. The Teliu plant will only produce bio products.
Escar Prod is an association of snail raisers established three years ago. The company has approximately 200 members in 28 counties.
