EnglishThe Government has approved several investments in mining areas financed by the EU. A formal decision in this respect has been published in the Official Journal of Romania. Based on this decision, several mines will be closed and the surrounding areas will be environmentally recovered. The program is managed by the National Agency for Mining Area Development based on a loan taken by the Government in 2005 from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The works include the rehabilitation of the public lighting system in Baia Sprie, the rehabilitation of the public streets and sidewalks in the center of Borsa and the rehabilitation and expansion of the water supply in Cavnic. All these communities are in Maramures County.
