EnglishKazakhstan will tax oil production 4-20% depending on the size of the oil deposit as the Government is planning to maximize revenues from energy resources. Kazakhstan"s Deputy Finance Minister Daulet Ergozhin said: "The higher the deposit, the higher the tax," adding that the tax would be levied on all oil companies effective as of 1 January 2009. Kazakhstan holds 3.3% of the world"s charted oil deposits and is seeking extra revenue from the high price of raw materials.
