Orange, the leading mobile telephony carrier in Romania, has reached 8 million customers, following a 500,000 increment in Q4, 2006. "Orange is market leader in terms of both the number of customers and the revenues. Orange Romania is entering the new year and the European Union with 8 million customers, which stimulates us to continue to offer the best services to our customers, to improve operating efficiency and to expand network capacity," said Orange Romania CEO Richard Moat. The company estimates Y2007 revenues at over 1 billion EUR. Orange Romania also announced the expansion of the 3G network to 20 urban communities and full countrywide coverage of the EDGE service. Their main competitor, Vodafone Romania, reported 7.15 million customers at the end of Q3. Cosmote Romania announced 1 million customers in December, a week after their first anniversary on the market.
