The Romanian Academy and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova announce the establishment of the Romanian Academic Council (CAR), a platform for scientific cooperation at the highest level in the local space. The new forum will bring together, in addition to the two initiating institutions, four more branch academies from Romania, in an effort aimed at strengthening academic dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Official launch in the Romanian Academy Hall
The launching ceremony of the Romanian Academic Council will take place today, March 26, in the Romanian Academy Hall. The event will include the signing of the official founding documents, followed by a meeting during which the mission, objectives and operating principles of the new academic structure will be presented.
According to the Romanian Academy, the moment marks an important step towards a consolidated institutional cooperation between the main scientific forums in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
• Six academic institutions, founding members
The Memorandum, the Establishment Agreement and the Statute of the CAR will be signed by the presidents of six academic institutions: the Romanian Academy, the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the Academy of Legal Sciences of Romania, the Academy of Medical Sciences of Romania, the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences "Gheorghe Ionescu-Şişeşti", the Academy of Technical Sciences of Romania. On the same day, the first meeting of the Coordination Council will also take place, during which the management structures of the new body will be elected.

Representatives of the Romanian Academy describe the establishment of the Romanian Academic Council as "a reference moment for the consolidation of academic cooperation in the Romanian space", underlining the essential role of academic institutions in promoting knowledge, intellectual dialogue and public responsibility.
The new platform is designed as a framework for inter-institutional collaboration, which will capitalize on the intellectual potential of the academic community in the analysis of major topics of public interest.
• Mission: analyses, studies and contributions to public policies
According to the cited source, the Romanian Academic Council will have as its main objective the elaboration of analyses, studies and recommendations regarding the major development directions of society. Also, CAR will support the consolidation of a common space of Romanian science and culture, integrated into the European and international circuit of knowledge.
