Romanian Post is preparing for the most extensive transformation in recent decades. Starting in January 2026, the company will begin an accelerated process of modernization of post offices, and all units in Bucharest will be completely renovated by Easter, announced last week, General Manager Valentin Ştefan. The statements were made during a press conference organized on the occasion of the launch of the new operational fleet and the first modular post office. According to the company, this transformation marks a strategic stage for the largest postal operator in Romania, which wants to regain its position as a major player in the modern courier market. One of the central pillars of the modernization is the acquisition of 80 modern vans, worth a total of approximately 4 million euros. The vehicles, united under the name "ZOR", are specially configured to streamline national logistics flows.
According to the Romanian Post, the new vans will allow: optimizing transport routes, reducing delivery times, increasing the daily volume of shipments, decreasing resource consumption and reducing operational costs.
"The modernization of the Romanian Post does not just mean purchasing equipment or changing its image. It means a profound transformation of mentality, processes, vision and reporting to the market", declared the general manager Valentin Ştefan. He emphasized that the main objective is to reposition the Romanian Post as a real competitor to private courier operators.
The second pillar of the transformation is the launch of the first modular post office, a universal counter that can be quickly installed in areas where the classic infrastructure does not allow the arrangement of a complete headquarters. According to the company, these modular units will allow for a faster expansion of postal services, especially in communities with difficult access to public services. In addition, they are designed to be fully functional, flexible and adaptable to local specifics. "By modernizing the fleet and launching modular offices-universal counters, Poşta Română not only streamlines its operations, but also creates real economic value: it optimizes logistics costs, increases delivery speed and capacity, stimulates e-commerce and contributes to the dynamization of the postal services market,” the company also says.
The modernization of post offices will begin in the capital, where all units will simultaneously enter the renovation process. Estimated deadline: Easter next year. The goal is to create modern spaces, adapted to the current standards of the courier market and postal services.
In the last decade, Poşta Română has lost ground to private operators, especially in the commercial courier and delivery segments generated by the growth of e-commerce.
