EnglishTwo stakes in Ceramica Iasi (CERE) totaling 65.86% in the company were sold on Friday on the Rasdaq market, through two special transactions in the public offers section. 10.75 million shares in Ceramica Iasi changed hands at a price of 6.58 RON/share. Following these transactions, the company has a capitalization of 173 million RON.
Earlier this year, brokerage firm Broker Cluj showed interest in acquiring the majority stake in Ceramica Iasi. Company representatives said Broker Cluj did not buy shares in Ceramica on Friday and the brokerage firm is no longer interested in the ceramic blocks producer, as the price of CERE shares is rather high.
Ceramica Iasi reported a net profit of 2.6 million RON for the first quarter of this year, compared with 1.3 million RON in the same period last year. Turnover amounted to 9.7 million RON in the first three months, recording a 37% increase from 7.07 million RON in the year-ago quarter.
In 2006, the company posted 6 million RON in net profit, falling 31% from 2005. Last year, Ceramica reported a turnover of 40.66 million RON (12 million EUR), up 12% from 36.25 million RON (9.86 million EUR) in 2005. Ceramica Iasi has a share capital of 8.16 million RON, divided into 16.3 million shares with a face value of 0.50 RON.
