A team of researchers from the Northern University Center of Baia Mare (CUNBM), part of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN), has launched the application "Career & Faculty Navigator", a digital tool for educational guidance of high school graduates. According to UTCN, the application represents: the first intelligent agent developed in a Romanian university setting; a tool directly available through the ChatGPT interface;
a solution developed with the support of Holisun. The launch took place during the "Career Days in UTCN" event.
• How the application works
Unlike classic vocational tests, the application proposes a complex analysis, which:
correlates the user's skills; integrates the psychological profile; takes into account personal aspirations; offers educational and professional recommendations. The suggestions generated mainly target universities in Romania, but also include European and global options.
• Answering career choice anxiety
The project coordinator, Oliviu Matei, draws attention to the pressure felt by young people: "Although they have access to more information than any other generation, young people face paralyzing anxiety when it comes to choosing a faculty.”
According to him, the uncertainty of the labor market and the impact of artificial intelligence transform a natural decision into a complex dilemma. The application is the result of the collaboration of a research team within UTCN, formed by: Adrian Petrovan; Cristinel Costea; Cristinel Gâta; Bogdan Văduva; Rudolf Erdei; Laura Andreica; Daniela Curoş.
In the next stage, the researchers aim to: expand the functionalities; integrate advanced conversational interactions; adapt the application to the daily use of students.
