The Ministry of Education and Research announces that the awarding system for student athletes who have won medals at international competitions remains, in 2025, identical to that of previous years, in order to ensure the predictability of the procedures. The clarification comes after information appeared in the public space regarding a possible change in the criteria for awarding prizes.

According to the ministry, the awarding of students who achieve results at international competitions continues to be carried out by the School and University Sports Federation (FSSU), in accordance with the legislation in force. The MEC emphasizes that the medal-winning students who were part of the delegation registered by FSSU at the U15 Gymnasium will be rewarded, a delegation formed based on the selections made by the national sports federations, pursuant to the collaboration protocols concluded between them and FSSU.

The institution specifies that, although the current procedure is maintained, in the future the expansion of the award categories for students participating in international competitions could be analyzed. Such a change would, however, be possible only after the stabilization of the country's financial-budgetary framework. "At this moment, the expansion of the award categories is impossible; maintaining the support existing in previous years is a rational goal", the MEC also transmits.
