Artist created by artificial intelligence, at the top of the American music charts

Versiunea în limba română

Artificial intelligence is gradually establishing itself in the music industry. A mysterious artist, about whom more and more specialists believe that he is a creation of artificial intelligence, has reached the top of the country music charts in the United States. The song "Walk My Walk", signed by Breaking Rust, is currently the most downloaded song on the Billboard chart dedicated exclusively to digital sales, reports AFP.

Breaking Rust has no known identity, and on social networks and streaming platforms there is no explicit mention of the use of artificial intelligence. However, the voice without an identifiable performer, as well as the illustrations and videos that are clearly digitally generated, have fueled the hypothesis that the project is actually the result of an AI system. Music content analysis programs used by AFP estimated that the song was produced entirely by an artificial intelligence algorithm with a probability of between 60% and 90%. The song's credits list Aubierre Rivaldo Taylor, who is only associated online with the Def Beats AI group, a project previously confirmed to have been developed using generative technology. The creators of Breaking Rust's official Instagram account did not respond to requests for clarification from AFP. If the artist's artificial origin is confirmed, the moment would mark a new turning point in the music industry, which is increasingly influenced by the emergence of AI-based composition platforms such as Suno or Udio. In recent months, more and more digitally created music projects have come to the public's attention. In July, whoever was behind Velvet Sundown, a vintage rock band, admitted that it was designed with the help of AI, after one of its songs exceeded one million plays. And in September, Xania Monet became the first virtual artist to enter the US sales charts, subsequently signing an estimated $3 million deal with Hallwood Media. Later, a young woman from Mississippi, Telisha Jones, revealed that she used the Suno platform to generate Xania Monet's songs. For now, Deezer remains the only major platform to systematically flag songs created entirely by artificial intelligence, in an effort to differentiate human productions from those generated by algorithms.
