Farmers in our country recorded a total production of 17.87 million tons of grain cereals last year, of which wheat ranked first with 9.29 million tons, according to a situation issued yesterday by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced, based on data provided by the National Institute of Statistics. The figures show a notable agricultural performance, with consistent yields in the main agricultural crops.
According to the cited source, the grain corn harvest amounted to a total of 5.99 million tons, followed by barley and barley crops with 2.19 million tons and oats with 145,000 tons.
In the oilseeds category, the total production amounted to 2.95 million tons. The most important contribution came from sunflower, with 1.49 million tons, followed by rapeseed (1.16 million tons) and soybeans (295,000 tons).
The legume sector for grains totaled 126,000 tons, while potatoes reached 968,000 tons. Vegetable production was estimated at 2.06 million tons, indicating a diversified and efficient agricultural activity.
These data confirm a stable evolution and a good capacity to adapt the agricultural sector to the climatic and economic conditions of 2024. The authorities emphasize the importance of continuing investments in agricultural technology and irrigation infrastructure to ensure the long-term sustainability of Romanian agriculture.
