IMF member states have maintained their commitment to the recovery policies

Oil prices are expected to average 63 dollars in 2010, after 55.5 dollars in 2009, the World Bank said in a report on the Middle East and North Africa released in Istanbul on Saturday. Those prices are "sufficient to avoid a major crisis in oil-producing countries, even though they are much lower than those recorded during the boom of 2008," said the "Economic Development and Prospects" report.

According to the World Bank, it is unlikely that the price of oil will be significantly affected this year by the factors which contributed to the explosive growth which happened in the first half of 2008.

"Global demand is likely to remain low," said the report.

Yesterday, during the annual IMF reunion in Istanbul, the 186 member states of the IMF made a commitment to maintain their policies for budget, monetary and financial support, until durable recovery becomes certain.

"Decisive and concerted political measures have led to the first signs of a recovery", the International Financial and Monetary Committee announced yesterday in a joint statement of ministers of 186 states.

This reinforces the commitment already made in the previous weeks by emerging and developed countries at the G20 summit, held in Pittsburgh, USA,
