The Romanian delegation obtained a mention at the XXXIV edition of the International Philosophy Olympiad, a competition held in Warsaw, in which 118 students from 57 countries on four continents participated. The distinction was obtained by student Lavinia-Elena Vasiluţă, from the Alexandru Lahovari National College (Râmnicu Vâlcea). Emanuel Petrescu, a student at the Gheorghe Vrânceanu National College (Bacău), was also part of the Romanian team.
• Competition theme: "Freedom & Reason”
The general theme of this year's edition, "Freedom & Reason”, generated debates and academic presentations dedicated to both the participating students and the accompanying teachers. The international competition is recognized as one of the most prestigious Olympiads dedicated to the humanities and aims to develop critical thinking, philosophical argumentation and intercultural dialogue among young people from all over the world. The Romanian delegation was coordinated by Professor Eugen Stoica, advisor to the Ministry of Education and Research, who participated as the leader of the delegation, member of the international jury and the International Committee of the Olympiad. The result obtained confirms the good tradition of Romanian students in international philosophy competitions and their performance in the field of humanities, in a competition with a high academic level and an extensive global participation.
