Minister of Health Alexandru Rogobete has requested a meeting with representatives from the National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Romania, the National Health Insurance House, and manufacturers of both innovative and generic medicines. The goal is to expedite the administrative procedures required for a new update to the list of subsidized medicines. According to a post on his Facebook page, the Minister aims to have new medicines added to the list by the end of this year, ensuring that more patients can access the treatments they need.
• Over 80 changes to the list during his previous term
Alexandru Rogobete stated that patient access to medicines and innovative treatments must not be hindered by political disputes, bureaucracy, or administrative delays. The Minister noted that during his previous term, the list of subsidized medicines was updated twice, resulting in over 80 changes-including the addition of new drugs and the expansion of therapeutic indications for existing treatments. "The objective is clear: to accelerate the administrative procedures for a new update to the list of subsidized medicines," said Alexandru Rogobete.
• New medicines by the end of the year
The Minister of Health indicated his intention to have new medicines included on the subsidized list by the end of the year, with the aim of broadening patient access to treatments. "As Minister of Health, I have a responsibility to put the patient before any political ego. People's health cannot wait!" emphasized Alexandru Rogobete. The requested meeting is set to bring together the authorities responsible for the regulation and financing of medicines, alongside manufacturers from the pharmaceutical sector, to identify ways to accelerate the procedures required to update the list.
