The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) announced that 9,854 teachers participated in the evaluation of papers within the National Assessment simulation for the 8th grade, in a process carried out at the national level and supported by a dedicated IT platform. The results are communicated individually to students and are to be analyzed at the level of each educational unit.
According to official data, of the almost 9,854 evaluator teachers: 4,956 corrected papers in Romanian Language and Literature, 4,550 in Mathematics, 348 in Mother Tongue. The simulation took place in 4,545 educational units, where over 12,000 assistant teachers ensured the scanning and uploading of papers on the digital platform. The MEC states that the IT system operated "within optimal parameters" throughout the process.
• Grade distribution: differentiated results by subject
Statistical data indicate a heterogeneous distribution of results, with significant variations between subjects. According to the statistical reports provided by the IT platform, the following situation is recorded by tests and grade brackets:
- Romanian Language and Literature (evaluated papers: 145,257): grades between 1.00-1.99 - 1.93%; 2.00-2.99 - 5.84%; 3.00-3.99 - 10.01%, 4.00-4.99 - 12.35%; 5.00-5.99 - 14.12%, 6.00-6.99 - 15.21%, 7.00-7.99 - 16.21%, 8.00-8.99 - 15.97%, 9.00-10.00 - 8.37%;
- Mathematics: grades between 1.00-1.99 - 0.68%; 2.00-2.99 - 4.96%; 3.00-3.99 - 12.34%; 4.00-4.99 - 16.56%; 5.00-5.99 - 16.94% (highest); 6.00-6.99 - 16.78%; 7.00-7.99 - 16.24%; 8.00-8.99 - 12.21%; 9.00-10.00 - 3.28%;
- Mother tongue: grades between 1.00-1.99 - 0.83%, 2.00-2.99 - 2.26%; 3.00-3.99 - 4.14%; 4.00-4.99 - 6.09%; 5.00-5.99 - 7.37%; 6.00-6.99 - 11.81%; 7.00-7.99 - 18.05%; 8.00-8.99 - 26.06%, 9.00-10.00 - 23.40%.
• Correction mechanism and rate of re-evaluated papers
The papers were randomly distributed to evaluators across the country, and the correction system follows the methodology of national exams. In situations where the difference between the grades awarded by the two evaluators exceeds one point, the papers are re-corrected by two other teachers, and the final grade is established as the average of the central values, after eliminating the extremes. Percentage of re-evaluated papers: Romanian language: 9.78% (decreasing compared to 2024, but above the 2025 level); Mathematics: 0.1% (constant compared to the previous year); Mother tongue: 5.72% (intermediate level compared to previous years). These values indicate a different degree of convergence in the assessment, with a higher consistency in Mathematics.
The results were transmitted to the school inspectorates and are distributed to educational units in the form of catalogs and individual report cards.
At the school level, these will be analyzed through: direct discussions with students, meetings with parents, debates in teacher councils. The stated goal is to identify the necessary measures to improve school performance before the actual exam.
• Access to papers and transparency of evaluation
Student papers remain in the educational units where the tests were taken. Specialist teachers have access to both the papers and the evaluation forms, in order to be able to discuss the results with students. This approach aims to increase transparency and use simulation as a pedagogical tool, not just as a testing exercise.
