EnglishThe Bucharest subway union decided yesterday to go on strike unlimitedly as of Tuesday, February 27th, every day between 04:00 am and 5:00 pm. The unionists made this decision following the failed negotiations with the subway company management. "The management offered a 13% raise, which is far below our proposal for 30%," reads a press release from the union. The labor conflict was initiated in end-January when the framework labor contract expired. In addition to raises, the unionists also demand better working conditions. The strike is likely to affect some 700,000 people who take the subway on a daily basis.
