EnglishDanone Romania posted a 20% increase in turnover in 2006 and secured a 50% share of the Romanian dairy market in terms of value, following investments in a new milk processing factory built in 1998. The number of employees increased from 21 in 1997 to 670 currently. The company has celebrated ten years in Romania and announced that every second yoghurt sold in Romania was Danone.
The company has also improved milk collection, dairy production and distribution capacity following a 20% annual increase in output. Danone has initiated a number of programs to support Romanian farmers produce more milk of better quality, including by importing better milk cows.
