Tim Cook ends 15-year term John Ternus - new CEO

Apple's new CEO, John Ternus, took over the leadership of the American technology giant yesterday, ending the 15-year term of Tim Cook, under whose leadership the company's value has grown vertiginously, to 4.6 trillion dollars due to the popularity of the iPhone, reports AP, according to Agerpres.

The CEO change comes at a crucial time for Apple. Artificial Intelligence has triggered the biggest revolution in the industry since Steve Jobs launched the first iPhone in 2007. Apple had a difficult start in the field of artificial intelligence, after failing in its efforts to offer new functions based on this technology, as it promised almost two years ago. Earlier this year, Apple unveiled new advances in artificial intelligence, including updates to its Siri assistant, with a focus on privacy and everyday usability, as the iPhone maker tries to catch up with rivals. John Ternus has worked on some of Apple's most popular products, including the Apple Watch, AirPods and Apple Vision Pro. But as CEO, Ternus will face challenges that will force him to step outside his comfort zone of hardware engineering. In addition to finding ways to keep Apple competitive in the AI race, the new CEO will have to deal with supply chain issues and develop relationships with key figures. Cook has cultivated ties with Trump as he has led the company through challenges, including Trump's trade war and tariffs targeting countries in Asia, where Apple has extensive supply chains for manufacturing. Even though he will no longer be Apple's CEO, analysts expect Tim Cook to help the company maintain a good relationship with Trump after he takes on his new role as executive chairman.

In the 15 years he led Apple, Tim Cook transformed the iPhone maker from a company worth $350 billion into a giant worth more than $4.5 trillion. Apple's sales also climbed from $108 billion to $416 billion in the last fiscal year, while net profit quadrupled to $112 billion a year.
