The revenues of medical staff in hospitals, ambulances and emergency services will not be reduced by 10%, announced Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete, in a public message in which he rejected the idea of a uniform salary cut and advocated for a structural reform of the system. The statements come in the context of discussions on reducing budget spending and pressures related to streamlining the healthcare system, a sector considered underfunded and unbalanced for years.
• The salary cuts would have created "serious negative effects”
The minister explained that a linear reduction in revenues would not have brought real savings, but would have seriously affected the functioning of the system. According to him, medical staff form an interdependent mechanism, in which each role is essential: from doctors and pharmacists to technical and administrative staff. "A rough and uniform reduction would have meant not only demotivation and a decrease in trust, but also the risk of a new exodus from the system,” the official said. He stressed that the decrease in staff income would have indirect consequences on patients, by reducing the resources available for treatments and investments.
• Reform, priority: performance criteria and reducing waste
The minister acknowledged the existence of structural problems accumulated over time: imbalances, lack of clear criteria and waste of resources. In his vision, the reform of the system should include: the introduction of real performance criteria, correlated with the complexity of cases; reorganization of the guard system; reclassification of hospitals; increased transparency in the use of funds; reduction of administrative waste. The official insisted that savings must be obtained through efficiency and better management, not through generalized measures.
The minister sent a message of support for medical staff, stating that the reform aims to create a "more fair, predictable and balanced” system.
He also emphasized that every decision is oriented towards the interests of patients, promising a more stable, dignified and safe system.
