Romanian Olympians participating in the 2025 Asian Physics Olympics, held in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, won two gold medals, two silver medals, three bronze medals and an honorable mention, according to the Ministry of Education and Research. The competition, now in its 25th edition, brought together 208 students from 28 countries, with Romania being the only country outside the Asia-Pacific region to participate as a special guest.

The team was coordinated by prof. dr. Delia Davidescu (International High School of Informatics in Bucharest) and prof. dr. Sebastian Popescu ("Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University in Iaşi). The Ministry of Education welcomed the delegation's success, considering it a reconfirmation of the value of elite Romanian education in the exact sciences, but also a proof of the potential of young Romanians to compete and excel in the most competitive international contexts.
