EnglishThe Arad City Hall is planning to restore the facades of 50 historical buildings in the center of the city within the Hist Urban project of the EU. A total of 225,000 square meters of façade on Revolution Boulevard will be restored. The City Hall will make a study for the general area restoration plan and a list of priority cases which require feasibility studies and technical projects.
"We estimate a need for 44 million EUR to restore these buildings," said Levente Bognar, Vice Mayor of Arad. The project includes technical and best practice training for the construction workers that will perform the restoration. The program is intended also to produce studies on the historical area in order to ensure its protection. For the time being, the protected area is comprised between the Ioan Slavici Theatre, the Avram Iancu Square, Metiatu Street, Cathedral Square and the section between Administration Palace, the Arad Citadel and Reconciliation Park. The project is scheduled to take place over four years.
