EnglishThe Romanian Meat Producers Association (ARC) claims that, in spite of statements that appeared in the media concerning price hikes for meat and meat products, meat processors don"t have any price increases by the end of the year. "We are however, expecting a recovery in sales before the holidays and we want Romanians to be able to afford cold cuts, especially after their purchasing power was hit badly by the crisis", said the officials of the ARC, in a press release.
Concerning meat, "we can"t issue verdicts on the accuracy of predictions made by meat producers, but we doubt there will be any price rises. Given the fact that we are part of the unified European market and imports exceed domestic pork meat production, the persistence of the crisis makes any price hike a risky proposition", Association officials claim.
