Autumn Marks Investments in Education

Versiunea în limba română

Autumn is the season for tallying investments in education, and this year promises a bountiful "harvest." The Ministry of Education has announced that a total of 5,846 schools and related units that requested equipment upgrades will receive funding. This follows a call for projects to equip educational institutions and related units, which was open at the Ministry of Education from December 19, 2022, to March 29, 2023. A total of 5,846 schools and related units, encompassing 2,538 projects, have applied for and received funding within this period.

Regarding investments that include computer science laboratories, only 4,419 out of the 5,846 beneficiary schools and related units requested funding. According to the ministry, "The estimated target at the time of drafting the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) was 5,200. Despite the extended timeline, with the call lasting over 3 months, and multiple discussions with the beneficiaries, the result remained at 4,419 requests for computer science laboratories. As a result of this outcome, the Ministry of Education proposed an adjustment to the target for computer science laboratories without affecting the coverage of needs in the field."

"The finalization of all contracts will be completed shortly, allowing all beneficiaries to commence procurement for their schools," the same source stated. To date, 2,424 contracts out of the total 2,538 have been signed.
