EnglishThe National Highways & Roads Company (CNADNR) collected a total of 449,798,842.53 RON as road toll revenues (i.e. RO-vignette) in 2007 and 564,340,793.20 RON in 2008. The management has announced that the target for 2009 was 588 million RON. According to CNADNR officials, the road toll revenues have been used for the management and maintenance of national roads and the payment of domestic loans taken to finance the current and periodical maintenance of national roads. Funds coming from this source were not used to finance investments. According to CNADNR, the current level of the road toll was defined by an Emergency Ordinance of the Government in 2007 and has not been changed since. No changes are foreseen for 2009 either.
