Mugur Isarescu: The Government Shall not Hurry Up the Economic Development.

"The Government shall not look in an obsessing way at the economic development", Mugur Isarescu, the BNR governor appreciates. He considers that our country has a high potential for an economic development that could be achieved in the next years. " Romania has all the necessary ingredients for a good economic development for some years. The biggest mistake that the future governments could make, would be the acceleration of the economic development." the governor declared during a seminar that took place at National Bank of Romania. According to the Governor"s opinion, the future Government must lay stress on the cost increases for substructure investment and to allocate more reduced funds for utilities. He also estimates a level of foreign investments of 10 billion Euro that, together with a good outlay of the European resources, could assure a serious development of our economy. The risks of an economic overheating are still actual and, in order to avoid them, it is vital that the income and the fiscal- budgetary policy become stronger and have a more organized structure. According to the Governor"s opinion, with a good mixture of economic policies, the financial development could last until the adhering to the European Union. The lasting of this process led to a more attentive concentration on the dismemberment of the public area than on the achievement of its essential role. In the first semester, the economic development increased from 8,8% than the same period of last year. The projection of the Government for this year indicates an increase of the gross domestic product between 8,5% and 9,1%.
