Victor Ponta said that there are two situations which could cause him to hand in his resignation as prime-minister:
1. if the newly elected president Klaus Iohannis promised to appoint a new prime-minister from within the ranks of the PSD;
2. if the DNA asked for him to be prosecuted in the case concerning the voting issues encountered by the Romanian emigrants (but he said that the "the 2004-like notion" that a person who lost the elections has to go to jail should be discarded).
His option of remaining prime-minister seems to be the worst choice he could make, putting him in ridiculous situations, as shown by his blunder about going to prison.
Last weekend, he once again explained that he didn't expect the turnover of Romanian emigrant voters would be higher than it was in the previous elections and that he thought that he had done an adequate job by keeping the same number of voting precincts.
