The Ministry of Culture announced the signing of the new Collective Labor Agreement (CCM) at the level of the "Culture" activity sector. The document, drawn up together with the Cultural and Mass Media Federation Fair-MediaSind and the National Federation of Trade Unions in Culture and the Press "CulturMedia", will produce legal effects for all employees in this sector, as soon as it is officially registered with the Ministry of Labor. Its validity is two years.
• An agreement expected by employees in the culture sector
The negotiations began in February 2025 and brought together experts and representatives of both parties, with the aim of outlining a modern, fair and adapted framework to the real needs of those working in cultural institutions - from theaters and museums, to cultural centers and heritage institutions. "Since taking office, I have had a constant dialogue with the unions (...). I believe that the completion of the negotiations is proof that social dialogue can function effectively when treated with seriousness and openness," said Natalia-Elena Intotero, Minister of Culture.
• What the new contract provides
The new CCM includes regulations on: working and rest time; payment for work performed on weekends and under special conditions; measures for the health and safety of employees at work; clear mechanisms for protecting the rights of cultural workers.
The ministry emphasizes that these measures offer predictability, stability and increased protection for employees in the cultural sector. In the coming period, negotiations will also begin for the sectoral annexes, which will introduce detailed provisions for each professional category - actors, museographers, librarians, technicians, visual artists.
