ECONOMIST LUCIAN ISAR:"The 5 lei/Euro exchange rate will only occur after the presidential elections"

Up until after the presidential elections of November 2019, the exchange rate will be kept within a narrow fluctuation band, says economist Lucian Isar. "Young economists in the commercial banks are joking that the only reason the EUR/RON exchange rate hasn't reached 5 lei for an Euro is that since Governor Isărescu didn't know whether he would be elected again, didn't buy Euros out of his 2018 performance bonus.

The tax amnesty, dissimulated in the form of a financial restructuring

The Finance Ministry is preparing the tax amnesty for all companies in Romania, for all debts owed to the state budget until December 31st, 2018. The amnesty is dissimulated into a project where the ministry claims it is a financial restructuring which stipulates the erasing of up to half of the debts accrued or the gradual down payment, under certain circumstances.
