The Ministry of Education and Research announces the organization of a ceremony dedicated to the awarding of international Olympians, the teachers who trained them and the schools from which they come. The event will take place on December 3, 2025, at the National Children's Palace in Bucharest, and will also include the granting of financial incentives. According to the institution, students who have achieved outstanding results in officially recognized international competitions will be rewarded, according to Ministerial Order no. 3,025/2025, which establishes the list of competitions included in the educational calendar. "By international Olympians we refer to students who have achieved outstanding results, as mentioned in the specific legislation," a ministry statement said.
The Minister of Education and Research, Daniel David, stated that the awarding of the international Olympiads is taking place under the same financial conditions as in previous years, despite fiscal constraints. "I am glad that, under the conditions of the fiscal-budgetary crisis measures, we can continue, as in previous years, the awarding of the international Olympiads, in the same financial and educational logic. The winners of the national competitions have already been awarded, and on December 3 we will honor the winners of the international competitions,” the minister said. Daniel David also emphasized that the use of the results obtained at the Olympiads in the admission process to high school and college remains valid, maintaining the existing provisions. At the same time, the minister recalled that the merit scholarship will continue to be awarded to all students whose final average is included in the 15% percentage, until the reorganization of the performance scholarship system "under conditions of fiscal-budgetary stability.”
• Ministry covers the costs of participation in the Olympiads
The Ministry of Education and Research announces that it fully supports the participation of Romania's national teams in international Olympiads, by covering competition fees, travel costs, daily allowances for the days of stay, as well as by organizing the national selection stages. Through these measures, the institution states that it wants to encourage excellence and school performance, but also to support the coordinating teachers who invest time and resources in the preparation of elite students. Romania participates annually in over 30 international Olympiads and competitions in fields such as mathematics, physics, computer science, biology, chemistry, foreign languages, social sciences or arts. In recent years, Romanian students have stood out through consistent results in the first places worldwide, consolidating the reputation of Romanian schools for excellence. The ceremony on December 3 will represent the official moment of public recognition of these results, in a context in which investment in education remains a central topic of government debates.
