The Ministry of Education and Research, through the National Center for Curriculum and Evaluation, announced the launch of a new set of 175 high school curricula for public consultation, developed as part of the curriculum reform process. According to the ministry, the new documents complete the series of previously approved curricula and are part of the process of modernizing the high school curriculum.
• What the new curricula cover
The 175 programs proposed for public consultation cover several categories of subjects and specializations in high school education, including: mandatory subjects with time allocation in the specialized curriculum for the vocational track, the pedagogical profile; mandatory subjects included in the common core and/or in the specialized curriculum; programs for the technological track; programs intended for education in the languages of national minorities; programs for modern languages; disciplines from the theoretical and vocational streams. The Ministry specifies that the new documents aim to adapt the curriculum to the new framework plans for high school and to the current requirements of the education system.
• Curricular reform continues
Ministerial representatives emphasized that the process of developing and approving high school curricula is still ongoing and will continue through new stages of public consultation and approval. The objective of the authorities is to fully complete the curriculum related to the new framework plans for high school, including for special high school education. The curriculum reform is one of the important components of the education modernization process, aiming to update the study contents and adapt them to the needs of students and the requirements of the labor market and contemporary society.
