Theft of Renoir paintings highlights the vulnerability of museums

Last week's heist at the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer, on the French Riviera-where two paintings by the Impressionist master were stolen-has once again drawn attention to the issue of collection security and the difficulty of monetizing stolen artworks, which are virtually impossible to resell, according to an auctioneer cited by AFP.
